Deaf Institute of Communication and Sign Language Trainings (DICSLT) is a registered organization in Kenya whose purposes is to breach communication gap between the Hearing, Deaf community, Deaf blind and mainstreaming of various disabilities in the society, training of disability etiquette and Kenya sign language communication skills. Communication barriers are systems, issues, objects, persons or anything that prevents a person from receiving, accessing and understanding the messages others use to convey their information, ideas and thoughts. These are hindered by reasonable accommodation and accessibility.

The institute is a member of national counsel for persons with disabilities, a government body that is responsible for all the issues to do with disabilities and from which the institute have been given the mandate to train and empower service providers in the government and also private sector in order to equip their members with sign language communication skills to enhance communication skills for better services and communication. We have also been approved, appointed and we are in the data base of Kenya Bankers Association as the Kenya sign language and disability etiquette trainers to their member banks.

With alot of privileges in place, barriers are evidently experienced with Deaf and Persons with disabilities resulting to frustration, stigma, negligence or even conflicts. Communication barriers is the supreme challenge on the need to empower society on Sign Language skills that are needed for smooth communication.
